Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is an upcoming 2010 video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix as part of the Tomb Raider series for digital download. Unlike previous games in the series, the game does not carry the Tomb Raider title and will be a download-only title.[3] The game will be released in Summer 2010 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.[1]

It is a departure from the series in that it is an "arcade-inspired" action game played from an isometric viewpoint. The game also features cooperative gameplay, and players will take control of both Lara and a Mayan tribesman named Totec. Guardian of Light may be played with a single player, and a second player may join at any time, whether online or locally.[2]
The game has been announced as a pay-to-download game and will offer a isometric "arcade-inspired" six hours gameplay.[4] Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will not be a part of the original "Tomb Raider" series, instead will start a new serie called "Lara Croft" which will often be followed up by the games title, as for example here "and the Guardian of Light".
The game has not yet been mentioned as a main "Tomb Raider" game, just has been announced as a "Digital Experience".[5] Crystal Dynamics has said to be working on yet another project which is rumored to be the continuation to the original Tomb Raider series.[6]
