Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area is located in Mingo County about 17 miles (27 km) east of Kermit, West Virginia. Located on 12,856 acres (5,203 ha) of steep terrain with narrow valleys and ridgetops. The WMA second growth mixed hardwoods and hemlock with thick understory of mountain laurel and rhododendron.[2]

To reach the Laurel Lake WMA from Kermit follow U.S. Route 52 south about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) to Naugatuck at the intersection of WV Route 65. Then follow WV Route 65 about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) to Lenore. From Lenore, follow Old Northwest Railroad Bed Road (County Route 3/05) east about 6 miles to Laurel Lake.

Hunting and Fishing

Hunting opportunities include bear, deer, grouse, raccoon, squirrel, and turkey.[2]

Fishing opportunities in the 29-acre (12 ha) Laurel Lake can include smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill.

Camping is not permitted in the WMA. Camping and lodging are available at nearby Chief Logan State Park and Cabwaylingo State Forest.
