Lawyers Without Borders is an international non-profit organization founded in 2000, which operates worldwide from its central headquarters located in Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A. Its goal is to engage the legal profession on an international basis in pro bono and rule of law work. It supports capacity building in the judicial sector of developing nations and regions emerging from conflict, advances the rule of law, protects the integrity of the legal process via neutral observation, and serves as a law-oriented clearinghouse linking needs with pro bono or below cost legal resources.

The organization's orientation is neutral, like the Red Cross. It does not engage in advocacy (like, for example, Amnesty International.) Its work is largely below the radar.

Lawyers Without BordersTM is an official "Without Borders" trademark protected organization. It has no affiliation with Avocats Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders."

Lawyers Without Borders is commonly known by its United Nations' acronym, LWOB.
