Leanne Jones is a British actress, born on the 21st March 1985 in Stoke on Trent, England, from St Ives, Cambridgeshire, England; currently living in London. She attended St Ivo School and then studied at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in Wood Green[1], north London, graduating in 2006. Apart from two minor productions, including Karaoke Wedding at the Union Theatre and Enchanted: The Rock Opera at Valley Gardens, Pontefract, Jones' first professional role was that of Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 London production of Hairspray.
Her London West End debut as Tracy Turnblad in the musical Hairspray won her a Laurence Olivier Award on the 9th March 2008 for Best Actress in a Musical. [2]. She had previously won the Theatregoer's Choice Awards for Best Actress in a musical for the same role [3] .
