Lee Marshall Bass is one of three brothers who inherited a family fortune created by their oil baron uncle Sid Richardson. He donated $20 million dollars to Yale University, but his donation was diverted by Yale President Richard C. Levin, at which point Bass withdrew his donation and Yale lost $500 million dollars in what would be future donations from the Bass family.
