  • Lehi, son of Helaman, another prophet in the Book of Mormon of the late 1st century BC

  • Lehi, a location in southwest Palestine/Israel mentioned in the story of Samson in the Bible. The place's name in full is Ramath Lehi = Jawbone Hill.

Meaning: a jawbone

A place in the tribe of Judah where Samson achieved a victory over the Philistines (Jdg 15:9, 14, 16), slaying a thousand of them with the jawbone of an ass. The words in 15:19, "a hollow place that was in the jaw" (A.V.), should be, as in Revised Version, "the hollow place that is in Lehi."

Simple English

Lehi is the first prophet listed in the Book of Mormon. He is the father of Nephi, Sam, Laman, Lemuel, Jacob, and Joseph. According to the Book of Mormon, Lehi was praying and was told in a dream to go to the wilderness with his family.
