The Libertarian Party of Massachusetts is the Massachusetts affiliate of the Libertarian Party. The state chair is George Phillies. The party has done well in several federal elections compared to other third parties and Libertarian state affiliates. In 2000 Carla Howell received 308,860 votes for 11.9% of the total vote (only 1% less than Republican). In 2002 Michael Cloud running for U.S. Senate received 369,807 votes for 16.7% of the vote in a 2-way race against the Democratic candidate.
