Biography

Chung was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia and raised in Vancouver. She has an elder brother and an elder sister.

After graduating from Vancouver's Templeton Secondary School, Linda participated and won first place in a beauty-talent show hosted by Crystal Mall, an Asian mall located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

In 2003, Chung won the title of Miss Chinese Vancouver, along with three awards in the same event. In 2004, she joined Miss Chinese International, a beauty pageant organized by TVB, and became the third contestant from Vancouver in four years to win Miss Chinese International.

Career

Chung made her acting debut in the series Virtues of Harmony II, the modern spin-off of the sitcom, Virtues of Harmony. Her role in Always Ready earned her the Most Improved Female Actress Award in 2006's TVB Anniversary Awards. Her role in the series, Heart of Greed, has been described as her breakthrough role, garnering her a nomination for TVB's "My Most Favourite Female Character Role". Her popularity increased after rumours about her and her famous co-star, Raymond Lam, although both stars have denied them.

At the 41st TVB Anniversary Awards show, Linda was nominated top five in the "Best Actress" award for her role in A Journey Called Life. She was also nominated for "Most Favourite Female Character Role" Award for her role in Legend of the Demigods. Her role in the drama Moonlight Resonance increased her visibility, as the scene of her fierce exchange with Yan Hung garnered a 50-point rating, making it the most-watched scene in all TVB series to date.

In addition to acting, Linda has sung the theme songs for some of the series that she has starred in, including Legends of Demigods, Best Bet, A Journey Called Life, A Watchdog's Tale and the subtheme for Heart of Greed. In May 2008, Linda signed a deal with Star Entertainment which launched her into a successful music career. Her first album was released on 20 August. [1][2] This album garnered her several awards at the end of 2008, including "Gold Newcomer Awards" and "Most liked Female Newcomer." Her album "One Person Dinner, Two Person World" achieved gold status in Hong Kong based on the number of sales. Due to its success, Star Entertainment released a second version of her album, "One Person Dinner, Two Person World Reloaded", which included more songs and more bonus material.

Linda filmed her first movie, "Love Is Not All Around", alongside Alex Fong, Stephy Tang and Sammy Leung in 2007. She was nominated for "Best New Performer" and won the Silver Award.

She is still the youngest A-grade actress (in TVB), and her salary per episode is $10,000.

In 2009, she finished filming Legend of Pu Song Ling, A Watchdog's Tale and Cross Boundary Exploration. 2010's drama, Can't Buy Me Love is in the pipeline and she is expected to film with other actors and actresses such asCharmaine Sheh and Moses Chan.

Her sophomore album, My Love Story, was released on 12 November 2009 and has since been classified gold.

Her latest movie is 72 Tenants of Prosperity.
