The Linguapax Prize is awarded annually on International Mother Language Day (21 February) by the Linguapax Institute to "to linguists, researchers, professors and members of the civil society in acknowledgement of their outstanding work in the field linguistic diversity and/or multilingual education."[1]
Nominations for each year's prize are normally submitted in December of the year previous.
The Linguapax Prize was first given in 2002. For the first three years (2002-04) the prize was awarded to two individuals each year. Since 2005, one person has been recognized each year.
