Linux Vacation / Eastern Europe (LVEE) is the annual international conference of developers and users of free and open source software. It takes place in the end of June - beginning of July in Belarus, near the Hrodna city[1][2].

The event is targeted to combine both communication and rest of the free software professionals and enthusiasts[3]. LVEE organizers are Minsk Linux Users Group and open source community active members from Hrodna and Brest. Recommended languages are Belarusian, English and Russian.

The first LVEE conference took place in 2005[4]. It was inspired by a Russian LinuxFest event, after large Minsk delegation had taken part in it in 2004. This visit resulted in decision to organize a similar but more official event for technical specialists of Belarus and neighboring states, who are interested in F/LOSS [5]. LVEE format is composed of presentations, workshops, and round tables.

Currently LVEE is the only general-topic open source conference held in Belarus (information based on the year 2008 interview of the conference press-secretary [6] and claims on its official website). Despite its historically formed naming, conference is not limited to GNU/Linux operating system, and also covers wide range of platforms - from workstations and servers to embedded systems and mobile devices[7]. Presentations subjects include development and maintenance of free software, adoption and administrating of F/LOSS-based solutions, peculiarities of free software licenses usage.

Financial support of the conference is carried out by native and foreign IT companies, having their interests in the open source direction: EPAM Systems, Promwad, Sam Solutions, etc.
