The following is a list of the Governors of the State of New Mexico and New Mexico Territory.

Twenty-six individuals have held the office of governor of New Mexico since the state's admission to the Union in 1912, two of whom—Edwin L. Mechem and Bruce King—served three non-consecutive terms. William C. McDonald, the first governor, took office on January 6, 1912. The current governor is Bill Richardson, who took office on January 1, 2003; his term will expire in January 2011. Governors are limited to two consecutive terms but a former governor is eligible for reelection after four years.

No woman has ever held the office of governor; current Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish, the only declared candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2010, would be the first.
