The following is an episode list for the ABC drama Grey's Anatomy. The series began on March 27, 2005 airing in Boston Legal's timeslot to gain viewers from the hit series Desperate Housewives. The show quickly gained more viewers than Boston Legal, took over the time slot, and was picked up for a second season of 27 episodes (5 of which were originally slated to air with the first season) which began airing in September 2005.
As of March 11, 2010, a total of 119 episodes of Grey's Anatomy have been aired, plus four recap specials: "Straight to the Heart" (January 8, 2006, covering the first season and first half of the second season), "Under Pressure" (April 23, 2006, covering the second half of the second season), "Complications of the Heart" (September 21, 2006, covering the first two seasons), and "Every Moment Counts" (April 12, 2007, covering the first three seasons). Episodes 22 and 23 of Season 3 served as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off show Private Practice, featuring Kate Walsh as Dr. Addison Montgomery.
