Lockridge is a city in Jefferson County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 275.

Geography

Lockridge is located at 40°59′42″N 91°45′6″W / 40.995°N 91.75167°W / 40.995; -91.75167 (40.995065, -91.751656)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.9 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 275 people, 103 households, and 73 families residing in the city. The population density was 376.8 people per square mile (145.4/km²). There were 109 housing units at an average density of 149.3/sq mi (57.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.09% of the population.

There were 103 households out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.11.

In the city the population was spread out with 31.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $22,679 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,347. About 5.5% of families and 9.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.6% of those under the age of eighteen and 23.1% of those sixty five or over.
