Izza Lopez is a 26-year-old transsexual woman from Texas who was involved in an employment discrimination lawsuit.^[1] In late 2005 Ms. Lopez took a job as a scheduler for at River Oaks Imaging.^[1] After giving notice at her current place of employment River Oaks rescinded their job offer.^[1] The reason give was her "misrepresentation" of herself as a woman.^[1] Born Raul Lopez Jr., she had lived as a woman for many years.^[2]

Lambda Legal has filed a discrimination lawsuit on Lopez's behalf.^[1] Lambda Legal's transgender law specialist Cole Thaler is lead attorney. Ken Upton, Lambda's senior staff attorney is assisting him. ^[3] The grounds for the lawsuit is that at River Oaks Imaging's actions violate title VII of the civil rights act of 1964.^[3]
