Izza Lopez is a 26-year-old transsexual woman from Texas who was involved in an employment discrimination lawsuit.[1] In late 2005 Ms. Lopez took a job as a scheduler for at River Oaks Imaging.[1] After giving notice at her current place of employment River Oaks rescinded their job offer.[1] The reason give was her "misrepresentation" of herself as a woman.[1] Born Raul Lopez Jr., she had lived as a woman for many years.[2]

Lambda Legal has filed a discrimination lawsuit on Lopez's behalf.[1] Lambda Legal's transgender law specialist Cole Thaler is lead attorney. Ken Upton, Lambda's senior staff attorney is assisting him. [3] The grounds for the lawsuit is that at River Oaks Imaging's actions violate title VII of the civil rights act of 1964.[3]
