Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, Lyons Township covers an area of 36.95 square miles (95.7 square kilometers); of this, 36.38 square miles (94.21 square kilometers, 98.44 percent) is land and 0.57 square miles (1.49 square kilometers, 1.56 percent) is water.

The boundaries of Lyons Township are East: Harlem Avenue, West: the Cook-DuPage County (County Line Road), south: the line of 87th Street, except west of Willow Springs, where it follows the Des Plaines river to the Cook-DuPage County Line, North: the line of 39th Street (Southview Avenue, Brewster Avenue). There are seventeen municipalities in or partially within Lyons Township's thirty-seven square miles of territory:
