The MV Dara was a Dubai based passenger liner which sank in the Persian Gulf on April 8, 1961, killing 238 people out of 819 total. The wreck sits at a depth of 21 metres (69 ft).
The Dara sank because of an explosion, and it has been theorized that a bomb was responsible, planted by an Omani rebel.[1][2] This would probably have been related to the Dhofar Rebellion. However, no forensic evidence has ever been provided proving a bomb was the cause.[3]
