The Macao Special Administrative Region People's Republic of China Passport (traditional Chinese: 中華人民共和國澳門特別行政區護照), or more simply known as the Macao Special Administrative Region passport (traditional Chinese: 澳門特別行政區護照), Macao SAR passport, or MSAR passport, is a type of passport issued by the People's Republic of China to permanent residents of the Special Administrative Region (SAR) of Macao, or Macau. Since the start of September 2009, the Direcção dos Serviços de Identificação has been issuing biometric passports for new applicants instead of the previous machine-readable type.
