Make It or Break It is an American television drama series that focuses on the lives of teen gymnasts who strive to make it to the Olympic Games. It premiered on ABC Family on June 22, 2009 with 2.5 million viewers.[1] The show was picked up for an additional 10 episodes on July 27, 2009,[2] which started airing on January 4, 2010, bringing the number of episodes in the first season to 20.[3][4] In January 2010, the show was renewed for a second season,[5] which is set to premiere in June 2010.[6]
Make It or Break It was created by Holly Sorensen who, along with Paul Stupin, also serves as the show's executive producer.[7]

The show, set in the world of competitive gymnastics, follows a group of gymnasts training at the top-notch Rocky Mountain Gymnastic Training Center, known as The Rock. While their individual skills make each of the four girls serious contenders at the Olympics, the group is continuously fraught with internal conflict that threatens to distract them from their goal. With the help of their tough but compassionate coach, Sasha Belov, the gymnasts must overcome the drama and arguments to succeed.
The cast includes Chelsea Hobbs as newcomer Emily Kmetko, Ayla Kell as Payson Keeler, Josie Loren as Kaylie Cruz, and Cassie Scerbo as Lauren Tanner. The Rock's manager, Summer, is played by Candace Cameron Bure. Rosa Blasi stars as Kaylie Cruz's mother Ronnie, a one-hit wonder from the 1980s, and Peri Gilpin from Frasier stars as Payson's mother, Kim Keeler.

The show has posted ABC Family's second-best series ratings ever, behind The Secret Life of the American Teenager, averaging 2.1 million viewers. The series also scored a 2.3 rating among females 12–34, which makes it the top cable series for that demographic.[8]
On August 25, 2009, the show's mid-season finale delivered the series best marks among a number of key demos, including females 18–34, 18–49 and 12–34. It was also the program's second-most-watched telecast to-date with 2.4 million viewers.[9]
