Athletics

Neither Malawian athlete advanced from their opening rounds, but Chikwakwa finished in the top 30 in the women's 5000 metres, and Chiwina set a new personal best in the 800 metres.

Men's 800 metres:

Swimming

Walesi's time in the men's 50 metre freestyle was so slow that he was handily beaten by his female counterpart swimming the same distance.
