Early life

Born in Mexico City, MX on March 10, 1980, Rodriguez grew up in Southern California to parents of Mexican decent. A good athlete in high school, Rodriguez began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after watching a video of the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).[2] Soon thereafter, Rodriguez fell in love with MMA and decided to train full time. At the age of 24, Rodriguez was diagnosed with a form of testicular cancer.[2][3] After surgery and a long recovery process, Rodriguez returned to MMA with a newfound attitude.[2]

MMA career

Fighting out of Carlsbad, California, Rodriguez is a member of North County Fight Club where he trains with teammates Jason Lambert,[4] Eddie Sanchez,[5] Matt Stansell,[6] Jeff W. Clark[7] and other top level MMA fighters. Rodriguez goes by the nickname "Meeen Bean".

Although Rodriguez lost by decision in his first MMA bout against the undefeated Larry Landless,[8] Rodriguez has been undefeated since, winning all of his fights by technical knock out. On March 10, 2007, the day Rodriguez turned 27, he became the undisputed KOTC heavyweight champion by defeating Jerry Davis[9] in the first round. Rodriguez is still the only fighter to defeat Davis.

Manny is now Training and Teaching at Blackline Training Center in Carlsbad, CA and works as a Manager for athletes signed to Blackline Fight Group
