Manohla Dargis (born April 1961) is a film critic for The New York Times. She was formerly a film writer at The Village Voice, the film critic for the Los Angeles Times, and the editor of the film section at LA Weekly. She has written for a variety of publications, including Film Comment and Sight and Sound.

Dargis grew up in Manhattan's East Village, and is a 1979 graduate of Hunter College High School and 1985 graduate of Purchase College, SUNY (literature).

In popular culture

Following her negative review of the first Garfield movie (2004), the second movie, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006), names the main villain, played by Billy Connolly, Lord Dargis.
