HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (born 1970) is a United Arab Emirati politician and member of ruling family of Abu Dhabi emirate. He is the half brother of current President of UAE, Emir (ruler) of Abu Dhabi, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also owns Manchester City F.C..

Early years

Born in Abu Dhabi emirate, the 5th son of emir of Abu Dhabi Zayed II and wife Fatima, Mansour graduated in Abu Dhabi and left for United States for higher education. In 1993, he received Bachelor's degree in International Relations.

Political career

In 1997, he was appointed as chairman of the Presidential Office, which his father Zayed II is the first and by-then president of UAE. After his death of his father, he was appointed by his eldest half brother Khalifa II as 1st Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, which is the merge of Presidential Office and Presidential Court. He also served numbers of position in Abu Dhabi, to support his brother Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He was appointed as Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services, which is considered a ministerial entity attached to the Cabinet, comprising a number of ministers heading the Services Departments.

Since 2000, he chaired National Centre for Documentation and Research. In 2005, he became the deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), chairman of the Emirates Foundation, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. since 2005. In 2006, as the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

In 2007, he was appointed Chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation.

Sheikh Mansour serves as the Chairman of First Gulf Bank, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation. Sheikh Mansour has established scholarship programs for U.A.E students to study abroad. He is also chairman of the Emirates Horse Racing Authority (EHRA) with an estimated family fortune of close to £560 billion.

Oil investment

In 2005, he was appointed as member of Supreme Petroleum Council. In the same year he chaired the Board of Directors for International Petroleum Investment Company and member of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). In 2007 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of UAE

Sport

Sheikh Mansour is an accomplished horse rider and has won a number of Endurance Racing tournaments held in the Middle East, and is chairman of the Emirates Horse Racing Authority.[1]

Sheikh Mansour is chairman of the multi-sport Al-Jazira Club, and 100% owner of English Premier League football club Manchester City.[2]

He is the patron of an annual road running competition in the Abu Dhabi: the Zayed International Half Marathon.[3]

Personal life

Sheikh Mansour has two wives. He married Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai. They have a daughter, Sheikha Fatima, (Born: June 9, 2006) and a son, Sheikh Mohammed. (Born: December 4, 2007.)[4]

Sheikh Mansour is also married to Sheikha Alia bint Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed; they married in the early 90s. They have a son together, Sheikh Zayed bin Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the eldest of Sheikh Mansour's children.
