Every year, a two-day traditional country fair, 'Marbury Merry Days', takes place in a field adjacent to the parish church and Marbury Big Mere. In the most successful years, over a thousand people will have attended the event. It normally takes place on the second weekend of May. Proceeds from the country fair are donated to maintaining the church.
The lakes of Marbury, 'Little Mere' and 'Big Mere' were formed by receding ice subsequent to the last Ice Age. The village is arguably most famous for its Big Mere, located close to St. Michael's Church. Little Mere is overlooked by the farmhouse pub, The Swan, and the large oak tree which is rooted in the heart of the village green.
