International career

Neretljak is also an occasional member of the Croatian national team and won up to this time a total of 10 international caps in which he also managed to score one goal. He made his debut for the team as a substitute player in the second half of their friendly match against Greece on April 25, 2001 in Varaždin, but had to wait for two and half years to win his second cap in the first qualifying play-off match for the Euro 2004 against Slovenia on November 15, 2003 in Zagreb. At the international level, this match was both his first competitive and his first in which he played all 90 minutes. Neretljak was also a member of the Croatian squad at the final Euro 2004 tournament in Portugal, but spent all of the team's three group matches on the bench. He played most recently for the Croatian team as he appeared in both of their two matches at the 2006 Carlsberg Cup in Hong Kong.
