Megaforce Records is an American Record label started by Jon Zazula and his wife Marsha. Probably best known for releasing Metallica's debut album Kill 'Em All, Megaforce Records was a strong force in bringing many unknown thrash metal bands to the forefront. 'Jonny Z' (as he was affectionately known) is legendary within the East Coast metal scene to this day.

In the very early 80's, Jonny Z and Marsha ran an extremely popular, yet somewhat underground record store which specialized in rare and obscure metal imports. One day, Jonny Z found himself in possession of what would change the course of metal forever. It was a demo cassette of a local Bay area band called "Metallica." Jonny Z was overwhelmed and immediately found a phone to call the number on the tape. He left a message and was called later that night by the band's drummer, Lars Ulrich. Jonny Z was promoting a large amount of metal shows in the New York / New Jersey area at the time, and convinced the band to head to the east coast.

Megaforce Records began in 1982 inside a single-family home located in the suburbs of Old Bridge, New Jersey. This house served as both the recording studio as well as a crash pad for any of the bands in the area at the time. Jon and Marsha were instrumental in the development of thrash bands such as Anthrax, King's X, Merciful Fate, Ministry, Overkill, S.O.D., and Testament. Jon and Marsha retired from the company in 2001 and continue to operate an independent business.

Megaforce Records is distributed in the USA through Sny BMG Music Entertainment/RED Distribution. MRI is its sister distribution company and has released diverse artists such as The Verve, Willie Nelson, Andrew Bird, Third Eye Blind, and many others, including a small band from Frederick Colorado named Lost Point. Kyle Sutton the bands lead guitarist and spokesman stated he is very excited for there opportunity.
