Melody Dawn Medeiros (born January 9, 1983) is an American professional wrestler, better known simply as Melody. She is currently working for Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she is a one time (and the longest reigning) Women's Champion, and OVW's mixed martial arts offshoot organization the Vyper Fight League.

Professional wrestling career

Ohio Valley Wrestling

Medeiros made her wrestling debut in Memphis Wrestling on April 16, 2005, where she lost to Mickie James.[4] On November 4, 2005, Medeiros, under the ring name Fuji Cakes, debuted for Ohio Valley Wrestling as she and Serena Deeb lost a tag team match to Beth Phoenix and Shelly Martinez.[2] Fuji Cakes then entered into a brief feud with both Phoenix and Martinez, losing singles matches to both on November 18 and 19, respectively.[2]

Gothic Mayhem and The Solid Gold Diva (2006–2007)

On July 26, 2006, Mederios made her televised OVW debut as Melody, losing to Serena Deeb.[2] Soon after her name change, she, along with Roni Jonah and Discord (later renamed Johnny Punch), formed the faction "Gothic Mayhem", a group of heavy metal punk rockers with Melody and Jonah serving as groupies. Eventually, the group was joined by Pat Buck, who formed a tag team with Punch while Jonah and Melody continued to accompany them. In mid-2007, Melody completely remade her image as she began dressing in gold colored attire, straightening and bleaching her hair platinum blonde and gaining breast implants while nicknaming herself "The Solid Gold Diva". Gothic Mayhem started to deteriorate, however, when Punch began a long losing streak. On December 12, 2007, Punch turned on Melody by challenging her to a match in order to end his losing streak. Although uneasy about competing, Melody accepted the challenge and shockingly went on to defeat Punch, handing him his ninety ninth consecutive loss.[2] Afterwards, Melody became a fan favorite and began to compete in OVW's new women's division.

Women's Champion (2008–2009)

On November 15, 2008, Melody defeated Josie, Reggie, and then-champion Serena Deeb to win her first Women's Championship. Soon after winning the title, she made her first successful title defense by defeating Reggie. In the beginning of 2009, she defeated Serena via disqualification to retain her title. On June 20, 2009, Melody became the longest reigning OVW Women's Champion as her title reign surpassed the previous record of 219 days set by Katie Lea's two title reigns. On August 12, Melody lost the Women's Title to Epiphany, ending her reign at 273 days.

Independent circuit (2008)

On January 12, 2008, Medeiros, under the ring name Jezebel, made her debut for New Wave Pro Wrestling as she teamed with Kaos in a losing effort to Lady SoCal and SoCal Crazy in an intergender tag team match.[5] On October 29, Melody debuted for Derby City Wrestling, the subsidiary promotion of OVW, and lost a Bra and Panties match to Josie.[6]

Vyper Fight League (2009)

On April 24, 2009, OVW founder and owner Danny Davis founded the Vyper Fight League, a mixed martial arts organization. As a result of OVW being the organization's parent company, Medeiros has since become one of the VFL's "Vyxens".[7]

Personal life

Medeiros graduated with a degree in graphic design from The Art Institute of Seattle in 2003.[1][3] She also has a tattoo of a butterfly below her navel.[3]
