The Deseret Morning News LDS Church Almanac gives the following information on historical membership records of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church's membership was roughly 13,500,000 at the start of 2009.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints grows year after year. From having six founding members, it took 117 years for the Church to reach a total membership of 1 million.[1] Throughout the 20th century, growth continued to accelerate over time and from the 1990s onwards hit its highest level with hundreds of thousands joining annually, which saw church membership increase from 7.7 million in 1990 to 13.5 million in 2008. As the amount of converts remained large (but at a stable level), church growth by percentage of the total membership slown down rapidly as a result, but nonetheless this does not indicate a decline in growth.
Note that for the following graphics, the start date should really be April 6, 1830, but for purposes of the graph, it was called 1829.
