Michael Jones was named chief operating officer of MySpace on April 27, 2009.[1]
Prior to his position at MySpace, Jones was the CEO and founder of Internet company Userplane and a Senior Vice President of AOL. Within AOL, Jones was a Senior Vice President and managed Userplane within the AIM division. He coordinated with other AOL subsidiaries and internal brands to enable distribution of Web applications to publishers under the Userplane brand.
Jones opened his first Web consulting business during his junior year of college, and eventually migrated his practice into PBJ Digital, a 40-person firm that served an estimated 200 companies, including Sony and UPN.[2] After selling PBJ Digital, Jones and his partners, Nate Thelen, Kevin Prentiss, and Javier Hall, formed Userplane.
Jones has a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Marketing from the University of Oregon.
Jones made his first speaking appearance representing MySpace on June 10, 2009 at the Credit Suisse Global Media & Communications Convergence Conference.
He has been published by the Internet journal iMediaConnection.[3] On June 5, 2009, Jones' entrepreneurial achievements were recognized with a TechFellow award in the field of General Management.[4]
