Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus, November 23, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is best known for playing Miley Stewart on Hannah Montana.

Cyrus' father is Billy Ray Cyrus and her mother is Leticia "Tish" Cyrus. When she was born, her parents named her "Destiny Hope" because they thought she would do big things. They started calling her "Miley" because she was so smiley. Later, Cyrus decided to change her name to "Miley Ray Cyrus". Miley Cyrus has a little sister named Noah Cyrus and a little brother named Braison. She has three half-siblings, two on her mother's side: an older sister named Brandi, and an older brother named Trace. She has an older half-brother named Christopher Cody on her father's side.

When Cyrus was eleven years old, she started auditioning for a television series named Hannah Montana. Hannah Montana is a show about a girl named Miley Stewart who is also a singer. Children like the show very much. They also like the songs Cyrus sang on the show. Cyrus decided to make albums to sell. Her albums are named Meet Miley Cyrus, Breakout, and The Time of Our Lives. A most recent CD is Can't be Tamed with 12 Songs included in the CD.

Cyrus also acts in movies. She voiced a cartoon in the movie Bolt in 2008 and acted as Miley Stewart in the movie Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009. In 2010, she acted as a girl named Ronnie Miller in the movie The Last Song. Miley also had a quick guest appearance on the movie Sex and the City 2 in 2010.
