Episode 1

On the series premiere of The Millionaire Matchmaker, the world is introduced to Patti Stanger, a third generation matchmaker who is the founder and CEO of the Millionaire's Club, an exclusive service designed to match successful men to their prospective wives. Patti is armed with not only an elite pool of millionaire clients, but also a database of women holding some of nature's most coveted characteristics: beauty, brains, and class. Helping her millionaires find true love are Patti's office team featuring Destin, her office manager and right-hand man, Chelsea, the Vice President of Matchmaking, and Alison, Millionaires Club Rep in Sales. Every week, Chelsea and Alison bring Patti two new potential clients, and in the premiere episode, millionaires Dave and Harold are looking for love. Patti arrives at Harold's sprawling mansion and gets straight to business. She quickly finds out that although Harold is in his early forties, he desires women much younger. Patti believes this is one of the main reasons he is still single and sets out to find him a match. She predicts that after working with her, Harold will begin to realize that if he listens to her and starts picking age-appropriate women, he will find true love. Patti is also working with "Sex Toy" Dave. She learns that Dave has made his fortune as an entrepreneur in the adult sex toy industry. The built-in stripper pole in his living room is the first clue that Dave is a playboy at heart whose partying days may not be over. Patti tells him that he's sending the wrong signals if he really wants to settle down, but she's willing to work with him. An open call to find the perfect match for each of her millionaires yields some unsatisfying results. Frustrated by the poor turnout, Patti demands that her staff find "the 10s." At the VIP event at the Hollywood Race Track the following day, the staff has pulled together an impressive bunch and the millionaires choose their dates—Dave chooses a petite brunette with a Harvard education and Harold chooses a gorgeous model. During a romantic dinner, Dave seems to have chemistry with his date and even a visit to his pad, stripper-pole and all, which doesn't seem to bother her. Harold and his date enjoy a sunset boat cruise, but the age gap between them takes its toll and they have a hard time connecting in conversation.[3]

Episode 2

At the Millionaire's Club's headquarters, Patti reviews DVDs of her two new clients, Jeff and Julien. Patti pegs Jeff as a "wannabe" aging rocker, while Julien seems to be quite the catch. A face-to-face meeting with each guy will help Patti diagnose the real problem they are having in finding true love. At Jeff's house, Patti is pleased to discover that Jeff is a sincere guy looking for love underneath his hard rocker exterior. Patti promises to find a true love for her "diamond in the rough" millionaire, but he'll have to agree to a makeover to update his appearance before she'll send him on any dates. As Patti drives up to Julien's house, she is shocked to learn that although he is a millionaire, Julien has chosen to live in a "chateau ghetto" with two of his college roommates. Julien is attractive, wealthy and a nice guy, but Patti is brutally honest when she tells him that no woman will ever take him seriously "living in a dump like this." Julien is open to Patti's suggestions. Before meeting any potential matches, Jeff must undergo a mini-makeover from Jen, one of Patti's stylists. Patti and Jen rip apart Jeff's closet and convince him to lose the studded jeans and try a slightly more modest look. Jeff reluctantly agrees and even promises to shave the "landing strip" on his chin. A gorgeous Japanese restaurant in the Hollywood Hills is the location for a high-end mixer where Jeff and Julien get to mingle with a handpicked pool of women. In his new attire Jeff seems perfectly at ease, and it doesn't take long for him to make a connection. Julien, on the other hand, shows Patti one of the other reasons he has had trouble in the love arena - he is completely awkward around women and never seems to say the right thing. Patti calls in Dr. Shannon Fox, a relationship expert, to meet with Julien to counsel him on his social awkwardness. In their meeting, Dr. Fox realizes Julien has a fear of going out of his comfort zone and encourages him to "try something new." He agrees to try and let go of his old habits. On his date at a quiet wine bistro, Julien is nervous, the conversation is minimal and his date looks uncomfortable. The only relaxed conversation Julien has is with the waiter...in French. Meanwhile, Jeff takes his date to a castle in northern California for an evening of wine tasting. She's thrilled to be in the company of such a fun-loving millionaire..[4]

Episode 3

In a commission business like matchmaking, there are peaks and valleys. Patti needs her sales staff to pick up the pace in recruiting new millionaires. Patti discovers that Allison has broken up with her boyfriend, which may be the reason for her current sales slump. Patti also reveals that even as a top-notch matchmaker, she herself struggles in the relationship category. When Patti learns about Lonnie and Patrick, two millionaires who are considering joining the club, she heads off to meet them and close the deal. Lonnie, a 33-year-old L.A. restaurateur is not so sure he can join the club when he hears about Patti's no-sex rule, but a lively conversation with Patti convinces this player that it's time to give true love a shot. Patrick, a financial advisor, is a geek who needs to be turned chic. Although Patrick's personality is as "stale as day old bread," Patti knows she can work some Millionaire's Club magic to help him find the one. A special casting call to pick women for Lonnie and Patrick yields some interesting results. The appropriate women with beauty, brains and class receive an invitation to meet the guys at a high-end event. The others, whether they like it or not, get an earful from Patti on what they need to change about themselves before they slip back into the dating pool. Later, a tense evening at the office unfolds when Patti learns that one of Alison's prospective clients has not yet sent in his contract and deposit. Patti is in no mood for excuses and Alison leaves in tears. The following evening, Lonnie and Patrick arrive at a hotel to sift through the assortment of women Patti has handpicked for them. After a series of speed dates, the decisions are in—Patrick and Lonnie make their choices, with the latter choosing a Playboy model. Before the dates, Patti has to work quickly to give her millionaires some very important dating tips. One of Patti's fashion mavens helps Patrick dress to impress for his evening, and Lonnie gets some one-on-one date coaching from a relationship expert. Lonnie wines and dines his date at one of his L.A. hotspots, but it remains to be seen whether any of Patti's advice has really sunk in. A romantic sunset boat cruise is jeopardized when Patrick's date shows up late, but all is not lost for this geek turned chic when they share their first kiss.[5]

Episode 4

At the office, Patti discusses with Alison and Chelsea the basic problems with modern men and how dating has changed. Good thing the matchmaker has her work cut out for her! This week, Patti and staff have not just two, but three new Millionaires to cater to. This week Peter Shane, a businessman who has made his fortune in manufacturing and selling how-to meditation tapes, is looking for a thirties, intelligent, independent, spiritual woman who shares his love for meditation and nature. Patti loves every detail that Peter Shane tells her and she admits that at first sight, she can't see any illnesses. She cannot wait to get started! Aside from having three new clients this week, Patti's parents are flying in for a visit with their daughter. When she picks them up from the airport, Patti's mom asks for the scoop on Patti's own love life, which Patti admits has been strained due to her long working hours. Even the matchmaker needs a little T.L.C.! Next Patti meets Tai and German, two friends who have just purchased a sprawling home in Malibu. Both are young, gorgeous, and wealthy. Patti is a bit skeptical about whether these two young men with money are really ready to find their one true loves. After a moment of hesitation, they pledge that they are ready to meet "the one!" Not only are they ready, they are ready together and want Patti to set them up on a double date! Patti is not at all thrilled to hear this but she obliges. How bad could it be? The pressure is on at Millionaires Club as Alison, Chelsea, and Destin work the phones to make sure they have a great group of women ready for the Millionaires big yacht event. They need spiritual, centered women for Peter Shane, and energetic, fun-loving girls for Tai and German. To make sure the guys are dressed their best, Patti sends Tai and German to Sam Saboura, stylist and fashion guru. After finally separating the men and getting them to focus, both Tai and German step out with in new duds with their best feet forward. The big event is here! Joining Patti on the yacht are her parents, Tai, German, and Peter Shane. After telling the girls a bit about the Millionaires, Patti lets the men loose to mingle with the women. Tai and German are joined at the hip, each one the other's wingman, and Patti has to step in and separate the two several times so they can meet women independently. They each select women to mini-date, and in the end, Tai and German pick each other's dates, Erin and C.J., two women who actually hit it off together! Peter, on the other hand, goes against what he had initially told Patti he was looking for and chooses Cynthia, a young twenty-something model from Texas. Patti is not happy about his decision but she saw it coming a mile away. She knows this is the perfect opportunity to teach this millionaire a lesson about women. Erin and C.J., the women Tai and German have chosen as their dates, are in for a surprise when they are greeted by the millionaires, sans shirts! C.J. takes the joke with a laugh; Erin, however, still must be won over by her millionaire. Once Tai and German return fully clothed, the group heads off to Honey for a night of dancing. Both dancers, Erin and C.J. move wonderfully with their partners and it looks like love is in the air. However, once the group sits down to dinner, German and C.J. hit it off perfectly, laughing, touching, and flirting. Tai tries to flirt with Erin by putting his arm around her and ends up making her uncomfortable. The night ends, but we will see who gets a second date and who gets dumped. Peter Shane takes Cynthia on a horseback ride, which goes well, and then to a restaurant on the water. He surprises her by meditating before taking a single bite. Cynthia watches and responds by taking an interest in her wine. With little to talk about after their ride, the date progresses slowly. When Patti meets with Peter Shane to get the scoop on his date with Cynthia, he admits that although she was young and pretty, there was no chemistry or compatibility with the two. All is not lost on this millionaire as Patti once again proves her matchmaking skills! The next day Patti gets a call from Erin, Tai's date, and is not happy with what she hears. Erin tells Patti that Tai came on a little strong and she's not at all a fan of Tai being inseparable from his wingman. When Tai and German come in to Patti's office to discuss their dates, Patti must tell Tai that Erin is not interested. German however, is happy with C.J. and is eager to set date number two. Looks like these two millionaires are going to have to start taking Patti's advice and begin living their lives separately if they really want to find love.[6]

Episode 5

Another office day begins with Patti learning about the next two millionaires seeking love. Joseph is a self-made real estate mogul who's a bit on the short side, and Xander is a millionaire who has made his fortune in investments and has a young daughter. Patti and her two millionaires meet at Santa Monica's trendy spot, Makai. Patti learns that 5'8" Joseph is dreaming of a tall model type, while Xander feels one of his problems is that he's shy around women he really likes. Patti feels confident she can work her magic on these two and they toast to new beginnings! Back at the office Chelsea gets up the nerve to ask Patti for a long overdue raise. The conversation quickly escalates into a full-blown tirade. Patti's feelings are hurt that her girls, who are like family, are trying to take advantage of her generosity. Chelsea and Alison don't see it that way, however, and later they talk about the possibility of leaving. Despite the fight, Patti knows she needs to focus on her clients. Joseph and Xander meet with Patti in her screening room to get a sneak peek at the girls Patti has found for them. Because the screening room has a two-way mirror, the millionaires hear some very candid answers including how many of them are not interested in dating a "short" guy. Being the great matchmaker she is, Patti finds two beautiful women for each of them. For his first date Patti chooses Megan, a young and sweet girl-next-door type, for Xander. She believes Xander needs a "warm-up" date with someone much younger than he is to work on his dating skills. As they dine near the ocean, Megan's naivete is perfect for Xander as he is able to build his confidence before his second date. Meanwhile, Joseph has planned a romantic dinner in his home for his pick of Joanna, a tall beautiful model-type. Her beauty is only outshined by her ability to talk non-stop! Joseph can't get a word in edgewise and the date ends with no future in sight. Joseph's second date is with Meredith, a cute blond 5'4" comedian, whom Patti chose for him. As they go-cart race and laugh together, Joseph feels potential for a real match. He realizes maybe love doesn't have to be wrapped up in a tall package. Xander is feeling confident on his second date with his number one pick, Violet. After picking her up in a stretch limo, the two head off to the blackjack tables at the Hollywood Park Casino. Xander is so impressed and nervous with Violet's natural beauty that he can't stop complimenting her! Despite her having fun at the tables, the evening ends on a strange note and Xander can't quite tell what kind of impression he has made. In her follow-up with the millionaires, Patti has to break the news to Xander that Violet was a bit creeped out by his excessive compliments. There will be no second date but Patti wants to continue working with Xander on his dating skills. On the other hand, Joseph and Meredith have already scheduled a second date. Overall, Patti is extremely pleased with the results.[7]

Episode 6

The knock-down fight Patti had with Chelsea and Alison about getting a raise is resolved as Patti knows she can't hold a grudge against her girls - they are like her daughters after all. With peace in the air, Patti can really get back on track finding love for her two new millionaires, Robby and Brendan. Robby is like no other client before. Known as the "Rolling Rapper", Robby is a roller-skating, creative type who wants a grounded woman who will love him for who he is, not his money. Brendan is a 26-year-old New Jersey native who has made the trip to L.A. to meet Patti in his quest for love. Patti is thrown for a serious loop when she meets Robby at the rundown apartment complex he is living in the heart of Hollywood. Claiming his creative juices are fueled by the location, Robby sees no problem with living there. Patti, on the other hand, believes he's leading with the wrong foot and no woman will want to date him if he keeps presenting himself like a slob. Young Brendan is light years ahead of Robby in Patti's book. He is staying at a high-end hotel, dresses wonderfully and has perfect manners. He is looking for a "caliber of woman" not easily found in New Jersey and Patti sets off to find him a match. A recruiting session for her men turns into a comedy of errors as an eclectic group of women parade through the Millionaire's Club offices. Despite the wacky turnout, Patti miraculously scores a perfect match for Robby—a woman named Dawn who roller-skates! Patti also finds an interesting possibility for Brendan—a girl named Charlene who is beautiful and intelligent. As Patti meets with her men to tell them about their upcoming dates, she also recites the club's code of conduct. Robby is not too keen on being told what to do while Brendan takes the information in stride. It's hard to tell if Robby will listen to Patti's advice or not! As Brendan and Charlene dine at Patina, a 5-star restaurant in the heart of town, it quickly becomes clear that these two are not a match. Brendan needs someone a little more worldly so in his initial follow-up with Patti he requests another date. Patti immediately connects him with Carolyn, a blonde traditional beauty. Rebellious Robby, on the other hand, has a completely successful date with Dawn. They roller-skate together in Venice and as the date draws to a close over lunch, Robby gets up the nerve to ask her for a second date - to a screening of a film he has worked on about a roller-skating trip he took across the country. She accepts. On his second date, Brendan and Carolyn take off for an invigorating helicopter ride over LA. The chemistry is immediately apparent and at the end of the evening, it's clear that Patti has scored with this match. As Robby and Dawn attend the premiere of Robby's film together, they seem like a couple already. Although Robby is not thrilled with how Patti dishes out advice, it is clear she knows what she's doing when it comes to matchmaking. In their follow-ups with Patti, Brendan reveals he will be seeing Carolyn again before he leaves to go back to New Jersey. Patti gives him some final advice and is eager to see what transpires with these two. Although Robby and Dawn hit it off, Robby no longer wants to deal with Patti. He tells Patti he no longer needs her services. They part ways amicably although Patti feels Robby will eventually have to change his ways if he really wants lasting, true love.[8]

Episode 7

In the final episode of the season, Patti's matchmaking skills will culminate in a fairy-tale ending. She has two heavy-hitters up to bat this week as she attempts to find the perfect match for Paul, a Las Vegas real estate developer and businessman, and Heinz, the owner of a successful model and talent agency in Los Angeles. Paul and Heinz are coming from opposite ends of the dating spectrum. Paul has achieved massive success in business and now is truly ready to fulfill his personal destiny. Heinz is divorced and has been a bit closed off to new relationships. After their initial meetings, Patti learns that Paul is a Jewish self-made millionaire from Azerbaijan who would like a Jewish woman who will satisfy him mentally, physically and emotionally. Heinz is in his late 50's and keeps his cards close to his chest. Patti decides a consult with one of her relationship experts will help the situation. After a lunch with Heinz, Dr. Shannon Fox decides that Heinz is attracted to youthful energy but has no youthful energy of his own. She encourages him to be more open and daring as he meets new women at the mixer Patti is hosting for him and Paul. A quick trip to the famous Beverly Hills hotspot, The Shave, puts Paul and Heinz in the right frame of mind to mix and mingle with Patti's choices for them. At the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Paul and Heinz are greeted by a roomful of beautiful women. Paul is focused in his attempt to connect with a partner as he asks pointed questions. Heinz is slower to warm to the situation and Patti jumps in to help him find some common ground. At the end of the evening, Paul has chosen Cidney a USC master graduate who has all the qualities Paul is searching for. Heinz has picked Marcela, a beautiful, relaxed woman who also has been divorced. On their date, Heinz and Marcela sip lemon drop martinis and actually start opening up to each other about life and love. As Heinz slowly lets down his guard, the two act like silly teenagers as they indulge in a tray of scrumptious treats. Paul whisks Cidney away for a spectacular evening in Las Vegas. Over dinner they realize they share a lot of the same goals and interests and a helicopter ride over the strip gets the romantic juices flowing. As they sip a glass of wine back at Paul's condo, the quintessential businessman takes a risk he never thought possible - he asks Cidney to marry him. A shocked Cidney responds with a solid "I will consider it" but she wants them to get to know each other better. In his follow-up with Patti, Heinz reveals that although he had a lot of fun with Marcela, he is not so sure he will ask her out again. Patti realizes Heinz will need more work to become truly ready for love. When Patti learns that Paul proposed to Cidney, she states that it's not the first time this has happened. It seems that Cidney was Paul's soulmate from the start and in this business of love, Patti hears these types of stories all the time. It's not the first time she has found a perfect match...and it won't be the last either.[9]

Controversy online

Gossip column website TMZ.com has claimed the two women featured on the finale of the show may be different from what they claimed to be. TMZ emphasized Cidney, who was portrayed as a Jewish girl with a Masters in Journalism was featured in Playboy's Cybergirl website. TMZ claims another girl on the episode, Marcella, who was portrayed as a travel agent, may resemble an escort in a Florida-based escort service company. Links on TMZ's article look remarkably like Marcella.[10]

Season 2

Season 2 consisted of 12 episodes which ran from February 2009 to May 2009.

The Season 2 premiere episode remains as one of the highest rated hours ever for Bravo television (according to February 2009 Nielsen rating chart). Much of the episode's success was due to the cocky and comedic performance of millionaire playboy David Golshan.

Later in the season Patti worked with several female millionaires, including a 40-year-old CEO of a high-end fashion label. Stanger relates to her by sharing her experiences with "ageism" in the competitive Los Angeles dating scene. In addition, Stanger signs on a gay millionaire, who owns his own successful branding business. A firm supporter of everyone's right to have committed love, Stanger believes "everyone has the right to marry, no matter what."[11]

Stasha Kravljanac, who appears on the premiere episode of the second season, is also featured as one of the contestants on VH1's Tough Love reality matchmaking show.

There was also an episode in which Stanger had 2 clients (man and woman) and they date each other at last, making them the first couple to be dating the other millionaire in the history of the show.

Season 3

Season 3 began on January 12, 2010.

Trivia

"Sex Toy" Dave who appeared in the first season later appeared as a contestant on the VH1 reality show Megan Wants a Millionaire.

Brittany, who appeared on Season 3, was originally the 3rd place finalist on A Shot at Love II with Tila Tequila
