The Minneapolis Fire Department also known as MFD and M.F.D. is the fire department for the city of Minneapolis, in the state of Minnesota, United States. The department has 19 stations.[1].
The MFD had the first openly lesbian fire chief in Bonnie Bleskachek, chief from 2005 to 2006, when she was forced to resign over allegations of assault, sexual harassment, and abuse of power. [2]
According to the International Association of Women in Fire and Emergency Services, Minneapolis has the highest proportion of women firefighters, among large departments, in the nation with 17%.[3][4]
