Monción is one of the three municipality (municipio) of the Santiago Rodríguez province in the Dominican Republic.[4]

As of the 2002 census the municipality had 11,663 inhabitants, 6,757 living in the town itself and 4,906 in its rural districts (Secciones).[3]
