MovieTime is a Canadian English language category 2 digital cable specialty channel owned by Canwest Media Inc.; a division of Canwest. MovieTime airs a mix of primarily films as well as television series.

Programs as of January 2009:

Licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in November 2000 to CanWest under the name Adventure. The channel launched under the name Lonestar on September 7, 2001.

When Lonestar was first launched by Canwest in 2001, Lonestar's programming consisted strictly of Western and rural themed programming consisting of mainly scripted and lifestyle television series along with films. After a few years, Lonestar began to air more general action and adventure programming unrelated to the Western theme of its early years and a considerable amount of that being movies, eventually to the point where the general action and adventure and movie programming made up the majority of the schedule.

On August 21, 2008, Canwest announced that Lonestar would be rebranded as MovieTime. The name change took effect on October 6, 2008.

MovieTime HD

On March 12, 2010, Canwest launched MovieTime HD, a high definition simulcast feed of MovieTime.[1]
