From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dalvin DeGrate (born Dalvin Ertimus DeGrate on July 23, 1971) is an African-American R&B/soul musician, singer and rapper, one-quarter of the R&B group Jodeci. He is the younger brother of Jodeci founder DeVante Swing. He was born in Hampton, Virginia

The rapper for the group, DeGrate rarely sang lead on Jodeci tracks, although he took production and songwriting credits on Diary of A Mad Band and The Show, The After Party, The Hotel. He occasionally served as the band's onstage drummer.

Dalvin also dated Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins of the female R&B group TLC and she appeared in Jodeci's Love U 4 Life video. He also released his solo debut, Met.A.Mor.Phic on 18 April 2000, which spawned the minor hit "Why Can't We".

He has gone on to produce tracks for a number of other artists, including Brandy Norwood's younger brother Ray-J.

DeVante and Dalvin have another brother named Derek DeGrate. (DeVante is the oldest, Derek is the middle, and Dalvin is the youngest.)
