The 1939 National Football League Championship game was held on December 10, 1939 at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Western Division champions Green Bay Packers moved the game to Milwaukee in hopes of a larger gate; 32,279 would pay to watch. The Packers (9-2) played the Eastern Division champions New York Giants (9-1-1). This was the 7th NFL championship game played. By beating the Giants, Green Bay avenged its 1938 title game loss and scored the first shutout in NFL championship history.
