Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University (simplified Chinese: 南京航空航天大学traditional Chinese: 南京航空航天大學pinyin: Nánjīng Hángkōng Hángtīan Dàxué) is a university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

The official name of this university is Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, or NUAA for short. In Chinese, the university name is sometimes shortened to Nanhang, or南航, meaning Nanjing Astronautics.

The university has two campuses, Ming Palace (明故宫) campus and Jiangjunlu (将军路) campus.[1]

History

The school was founded in October 1952, as the Nanjing College of Aviation Industry. In 1956, it was renamed as Nanjing Aeronautical Institute, and, in 1993, as the current name, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.[2]

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, (NUAA), (南京航空航天大学) is one of the key universities in China that mainly offers courses in science and engineering and strives for the coordinated development in applied science, management, humanities and social sciences with the combined features of aeronautics , civil aviation and astronautics. It is among the nation's first institutions of higher learning authorized to grant degrees of doctor, master and bachelor. In 1996 it succeeded in becoming one of the China's 100 most key universities for the 21st century (China's 211 Project). It is subordinated to the Commission of National Defense Science, Technology and Industry of China. Basically this community is to gather NUAA's students from all around the world.
