Naran (translation: The Man) is a 2005 Malayalam movie which tells the story of Mullankolli Velayudhan, a homeless ruffian with a good heart.

Bhavana calls him Mullankolli Maharana (King of Mullankolli(Mohanlal), as he governs the marketplace there, and tells people that if any one makes him loose a fight, he would stop everything and start minding his own business.

He fears and shows respect only to Madhu (Valya Nambyar), and keeps teasing Siddique (Cheriya Nambyar), who is Madhu's son in law.

Innocent (Kelappan) has 2 daughters, the elder of whom is married and is separated from her husband. The second daughter is Bhavana, a very little girl in traditional Kerala dress projecting her body.

Jagathi Sreekumar (Panchayat Member) has a money lending business and he collects very high interest rates from borrowers, taking pronotes and Power of Attorneys (Power Antony as he calls it) of land, homes or farms favoring Siddique from them.

Siddique kills his father in law, ditches Jagathi by breaking into his office and taking all the documents away. He tries to get into bed with Devayani (Janaki) and tries to sleep with her, but Janaki resists him and commits suicide with her daughter Baby Niranjana.

Mullankolli takes revenge for everything he did and drowns him to death in the end.
