Shastri was educated at Symbiosis College in Pune, and later moved to Government Law College in Mumbai.Narayani had dated boyfriend Gaurav Chopra.

She played the lead roles in Piya Ka Ghar and She replaced Neha Mehta to play the new role of Mamta in Zee's Mamta. and She played the role of Tulsi's (Smriti Irani) sister Kesar in Star Plus' Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She played the negative character Tashu, a Abhay's evil wife in Sony's Kkusum.
