The National Democrats were a far right split off from the National Front in 1995 after having had enough with its extremist image and its failure in the elections. It was formed by Ian Anderson and Martin Wingfield and it rejected the compulsory repatriation in favour of voluntary repatriation and no longer took part in any marches on the streets. It only lasted from 1995 to 2000 where it took part in parliamentary by-elections and the 1997 General election with only 20 candidates. It also opposed the British National Party which it regarded it as neo-fascist and extreme although it was beaten by the BNP in many constituencies resulting with its key members like Sharron Edwards and Simon Darby joining in 1998 and eventually Martin Wingfield in 2001. The NatDems no longer took part in any elections.
