Nicholas Howard Barker is an extreme metal drummer (from Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, now lives in Sheffield, England).
Biography
He was the original drummer for British metal band Cradle of
Filth, playing on the first three albums. After leaving in
1999, he joined Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. After
being removed from the lineup,[1] Barker
went on to play with Brujeria, Old Man's Child, Lock Up, Gaahl
and King ov Hell, Atrocity, and Leaves' Eyes.
He is currently touring as a live drummer with thrash metal band
Exodus and plays
with an AC/DC tribute band called Sin City.
Barker's technique incorporates fast double bass drumming, extremely accurate blast beats and fills and
precise dynamic accuracy.
On Dimmu Borgir's 2002 "World Misanthropy" video, he mentioned
the following names as important influences on his playing style:
Neil Peart (Rush), Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel,
Death,
Strapping Young Lad), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Clive Burr, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), and Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel). Many
of those names would appear in various thanks lists on albums he
has participated in.
