Nicholas Megalis (born April 8, 1989) is an
American singer-songwriter, pianist, and producer.
His music has been featured on MTV, covered nationally in music magazines such as
SPIN and the
Alternative
Press, as well as regionally and locally with reviews and
articles appearing in The Free Times,
Cleveland
Scene, and The Plain Dealer. In
2007, Megalis was featured as the main spotlight artist on National Public Radio's All
Things Considered. In 2008, Nicholas Megalis' songs "Instances
of Shame" and "The Holder" were featured on MTV's The Real World.
Nicholas Megalis opened for Nine Inch Nails on their Lights In The
Sky Over North America Tour on August 22, 2008 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Nicholas won "Best Male Singer-Songwriter" in the 2009 Best of
Cleveland poll in Cleveland Scene magazine. He performed
at the 2009 Voodoo Experience in New Orleans,
Louisiana.
Biography
At age 16, Nicholas Megalis recorded a full length studio album
titled "I See The Moon" at Ante Up Audio in Cleveland, Ohio.
Nicholas Megalis met producer Michael Seifert in 2007.
Shortly after meeting Nicholas, Seifert produced the studio follow
up, Praise Be, Hype Machine. It was
released on April 11, 2008. As well as recording in the studio,
Megalis has performed regionally since early 2006. His live shows
range from full band to solo performances. He has played with
multiple upright bassists, guitarists, drummers, brass sections and
violinists. He has played nearly every major Cleveland venue. These
include Quicken Loans Arena, Time Warner
Cable Amphitheater, The Agora Theatre and Ballroom,
Grog Shop, House
of Blues, Pat's In The Flats,The Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame, and The Beachland Ballroom. In 2006,
Megalis played the 40th Annual Kent State Folk Festival in Kent,
Ohio. In December 2007, he was the featured artist on WMBR 88.1
FM's Cambridge radio show "Phoning It In". He performed over the
telephone his songs "In The End", "Caroline", "Oh, Steady",
"Instances of Shame", "The Phrase", and "Half Your Age". In January
2008 Nicholas Megalis was nominated by the Free Times in the
category of Best Vocalist. A limited edition of Nicholas' 2008
album "Praise Be, Hype Machine" was released on April 11, 2008. In
March 2009, Nicholas Megalis released a free internet-exclusive EP,
the second in a series, following "Whatever I Am, You'll
Understand" (2007). It is titled "I Find It Sexy How You Mislead
Me", and it includes 9 tracks. On December 22 2009, the EP "Pagan
Pecan" was made available for download at Megalis' official
website, [1]. Megalis
requested donations for the EP, with the proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital.

music, as Megalis is unsigned.
