From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alejandrina “Nina” Sicilia Hernández (born December 3, 1962 in Caracas) was the first Venezuelan to hold the Miss International title in 1985. Miss International (officially titled "The International Beauty Pageant") is the fourth largest beauty pageant in the world.

Nina Sicilia, representing Monagas State in the Miss Venezuela pageant, captured the Miss Elegance title, and placed as a finalist.

Subsequently Nina went on to compete in the Miss International pageant in Tsukuba (Japan) and won it in 1985.

Her father, who passed away in 2005, was a Spanish emigrant who struggled to provide Nina with education. Nina finally obtained her academic degree in Accounting and aside from that, she also studied piano where she completed her 10 years of piano playing study at the Juan Jose Landaeta Conservatory of Music in Caracas. A lot of people often mistaken Nina to be of Italian descent, but both her parents are actually from Canary Islands, Spain.

In 1985 in Japan, Nina was crowned Miss International ahead of the favorite runner-up, Sarie Nerine Jourbert from USA. [1]

Now she is married with two children. She works in Venevision as TV Anchor, and as manager in a Caracas marketing company.
