Stadium

Nottingham is one of 16 cities bidding to become a part of England's 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup Bid. At the heart of the bid, is the proposed 45,000 seater Nottingham Forest Stadium.[2] It has been announced that the stadium will be built in the Gamston area of the city.[3] This move caused Nottinghamshire County Council to withdraw support from the bid.[4] The leader of the council, Kay Cutts said that the council would only support an expansion of the City Ground. Shortly after this, the chairman of Nottingham Forest, Mark Arthur released a statement attacking Kay Cutts, and stating that the stadium will go ahead as planned.[5] The current City Ground, can not be developed to house 40,000 spectators, as dictated by FIFA rules.

Fan Camps

As part of the bid, the council has suggested areas that they feel could become fan camps. These would house fans coming to watch their team and will contain a large screen. Some areas suggested are: Wollaton Hall, Old Market Square, Victoria Embankment and Skegness, Lincolnshire.
