The 2007 special election in Ohio's 5th congressional district occurred when the district became vacant following the death of incumbent Paul E. Gillmor, reported September 5, 2007. A special election to fill the seat was called by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland for 2007-12-11.[1] The primary elections were held on 2007-11-06.[1] Republican Bob Latta won election to congress defeating Democrat Robin Weirauch. [2]
