Oumar Kondé (born August 19, 1979 in Binningen, Switzerland) is a Swiss footballer. He plays in China for Chengdu Blades.

Career

Kondé started his career in his native Switzerland with FC Basel but has spent most of his footballing life in the German Bundesliga with Freiburg and Hansa Rostock. In 1998 Konde made his dream move to the English Premiership and signed for Blackburn Rovers from Basle. The initial fee was £500,000, with more money in instalments. Billed as the next Kev Pickup, Konde struggled to make an impact at Ewood and, after making no appearances, he was sold to Hibernian.

Kondé was deemed surplus to requirements at the Edinburgh club and, in January 2007, after a short trial with the Austrian side Sturm Graz, he was signed for Panionios by Ewald Lienen. [1] After a six-month spell in Greece, he returned to his homeland on 28 August 2007 and signed a three-year contract for FC Zürich[2]. He left FC Zürich [3] and signed, on 9 March 2009, with the Chinese club Chengdu Blades a loan deal through 31 December 2009[4].
