Pablo Prigioni (born March 17, 1977 in Río Tercero, Argentina) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player. He plays at the point guard position. He is 1.93 m (6'4") in height. He is currently playing with Real Madrid, his transfer from Caja Laboral Baskonia being announced on August 24, 2009.

Player profile

A very creative, pass-first 6'4" point guard, Prigioni led the Euroleague in assists during the 2005-06 season and in steals during the 2006-07 season. He was voted the best point guard of the Spanish ACB League for the 2006-07 and 2008-09 seasons. He is a very good passer and also a very good defender and he led the Spanish League in steals during the 2002-03 season.

He has been selected to the Spanish ACB League All-Star Game, the All-Spanish ACB League Team and the All-Spanish ACB League Defensive Team several times. He has also been selected to the All-Euroleague Second Team two times during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

Pro career

Prigioni began his professional career in 1997 with Belgrano San Nicolás of the Argentine LNB League. In 1998, he transferred to the Argentine League club Obras Sanitarias. In 1999, he moved to the Spanish ACB League club Fuenlabrada, where he stayed until the year 2001.

In 2001, Prigioni joined the Spanish League club Lucentum Alicante, and he played there until the year 2003. In 2003, Prigioni joined the big Euroleague team TAU Cerámica. With TAU he has won several championships, including: 3 Spanish King's Cups in the years 2004, 2006, 2009, 4 Spanish Supercups in the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and the Spanish Championship in the year 2008.

In 2009, he joined Real Madrid.[2]

As a member of the Argentine national basketball team, Prigioni won the silver medal at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. He has also played for Argentina at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

Prigioni was also a member of the Argentine national team that competed at the 2008 Olympic Basketball Tournament and won the bronze medal. He won the bronze medal at the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship.
