Pak Nam-gi (Korean:박 남기) (21 February 1934[1] – March 2010) was the director of the Planning and Finance Department of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party[2][3], prior to his dismissal, and subsequent execution by firing squad in Pyongyang in March 2010 for the offence of "intentionally harming the country’s economy".[4] Western newspaper reports suggest that he may have been a scapegoat for the failure of the recent devaluation of the North Korean won in 2009.[5] which led to a crisis after it wiped out many people's savings.[6][7][8]
