Panna Tal, also known as Garuda tal, is one of the seven lakes of Sattal in Uttarakhand, India.


Sat Tal is located at altitude of 4500 Ft Above Sea Level. Sat Tal is located 22 Kms from Nainital ,298 Kms from New Delhi and 35 Kms from Kathgodam Railway Station, Actually Sat Tal is a bnch of lakes situated in between Oak forests. While Approching Sat Tal, the first lake is old Nal Damyanti lake , soon afterwards one can find Ashram of Stanley Johns (American Missionary), next lake on the way is Panna tal(also called Garuda Lake), Followed by bunch of three lakes Ram Tal, Laxman Tal,Sita Tal. Hanuman Tal , Bhiyun Tal and Sukha Tal are seasonal lakes and are filled with water during monsoons only.

Panna Tal is separated by a hill from other Tals. One needs permits for fishing , There are several local myths about Panna Tal. Panna tal is a clear and green lake surrounded by dense oak forests on all sides that cast a deep green image in the clear waters of the panna tal. The lake is emerald green in appearance and draws its name from this precious stone.

The lake and its surroundings are clean and untouched by the commercialisation that mars the other lakes in the area like naini tal or bhim tal.
