Major(Ret.) Alfred Palo Conteh is a retired Major in the The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and the current Defense Minister of Sierra Leone. army, he is the nephew of the late President of Sierra Leone, Joseph Saidu Momoh. He went to the United Kingdom to study Law in 1986 Law school. He obtained the Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) Honours and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1992. He also obtained a Master of Laws (LLM). He is a keen sportsman and a keep fit fanatic. He plays football, volleybal, handball, squash and tennis. He was Sierra Leone's 400m record holder. His 400m army record remains unbroken since 1982.
Paolo Conteh is an ethnic Limba group and has a relation to former Sierra leone's president Joseph Saidu Momoh.
