Career

After his success in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Bouba Diop signed with Ligue 1 side RC Lens. After failing to impress and only netting 6 goals in 67 league appearances, Diop moved to the Premier League to play with Fulham. At Fulham he found more success playing as a winger or in the center of midfield. After 3 years at Craven Cottage he transferred to Portsmouth from Fulham on transfer deadline day, 31 August 2007. His preferred position is centre midfield but can also play right midfield. His nickname is The Wardrobe, given to him by the fans at Fulham, because of his enormous frame. At 6' 4 tall and with a large frame, he is an intimidating proposition for the opposition.

He came on as a substitute as Portsmouth won the 2008 FA Cup Final. He has signed a new contract to stay at the club until 2011.

Diop was seen at The Walkers Stadium, believed to be discussing a move to Leicester on loan.
